The Asian squat (even when not using a toilet) is hard for Westerners, and potentially damaging as many lack the core strength for their body size. Travel around Europe and you'll find these in many autoroute service areas, Universities (mine has installed them) and other places where catering for a specific ethnicity is important, beats finding foot/boot prints on 'normal' toilet seats... As one Spanish girl told me, she'd rather these than having to sit on dirty toilet seats, espousing the skiing crouch over dirty toilet seats, or bare pans without seats as found in many parts of Italy and Spain, better for complete drainage and evacuation too apparently!
