Manual snowblowing shovel.



Snow removal tools are often featured in compelling online videos, each one displaying said tool perfectly removing the kind of snow for which it works best. I wouldn't mind a trend of the opposite type of videos - snow removal fails resulting from a mismatch of snow type and chosen tool. Snow shovel handles breaking, ATV plow cables snapping, etc.

My mother got a very similar shovel to that one.... it works decent in light fluffy snow of about 1", no more than 2". It works good for sidewalks where you'd need to take a couple of passes and done. For a larger concrete garage pad, the snow starts to stack up too much when you get too wide. Once you've made a big windrow, then it's time for the snow blower or a different shovel. It mostly just hangs on the wall of the shop. Once in awhile I pull it down and use it if there's just the right kind and amount of snow. Otherwise, I just use the snowblower or my snow dozer.

Just used my Snow Joe 18", 40 amp, free snow thrower, today. Community goodwill store was going to throw it away, because they had received it without a battery, so couldn't sell it, since they didn't know if it worked or not. They gave it to my wife when she said she was interested. Unit had never been used. Came with an unused charger, too. Bought a new battery, and it works on new, light, dry snow. Probably, it was never used because someone ordered it, not knowing it is sold without a battery, and the battery costs about 1/2 of the whole unit. Just another excuse to look forward to the next snowfall.

That's why we have lots of tools!

I agree lets have some Fails so we can redesign them for proper specialized use.
