Manufactured rubber band ball.

Here’s an attractive rubber ball, “manufactured in China”, which my wife gave me yesterday, as an anniversary present!
Who else collected rubber bands as kids, to make a ball? Mine grew to about 2” in diameter, but a friend’s was about 5”.
When I took mine apart, the centre was congealed.

What I would like very much to know is whether these are produced by machinery. Or by slaves.

Looks like the innards of an old golf ball, once you had remove the hard white cover.

Golf balls used to be wound with fine strips of rubber, but sadly not today, as the rubber strip costs more than the stuff they use today.
