Interesting web-site. Homemade tools are adventerous. I find it brain stimulating to imagine a new tool or using a tool for a different purpose. I grew up in the '40s and '50s. My mentor was my father, who grew up during the depression,"want not, waste not". I learned how a why to unbend nails, clean threads on screws/bolts for reuse. Using a naphta fueled blowthorch to remove paint from the side of the house before repaint and using the same torch to soldier. It was a wonder full time for me and my Dad. Miss those "good ol' days" I could go on forever, leave that for next time. PS. I was running a Shopsmith lathe in my dypers. Will post pics.
