I had to remake a lot of battery posts in a motor pool welding shop of a driver training brigade. the posts would get melted off usually due to trainees leaving the cables loose or shorting a wrench across the posts.
I would saw off the posts then drill in about half an inch then thread to 3/8 16 using a tap that ws ground under size heat up a brass bolt and tighten in to the hole then use a funnel with a post shaped end on it melt some lead and pour over the still hot brass bolt.. Sometimes if the post wasn't all tht bad I would just clean it with some muratic acid and a stainless steel brush then pour lead to build up the post Yu could do a lot of things to those old tar case 100 amp 12v foot square batteries
