Wondering what the current was for that effect? Any ideas?
Yeah, I'd like to know more about it. You could use this to weld bandsaw blades together or make quick bends in steel without having to fire up a torch or forge.
No idea on current or any further details; found 'er on the internet. What usually happens here is that someone with more knowledge of this shows up in these threads and posts more info.
I suppose he knows what he’s doing, but that looks extremely dangerous.
This pales in comparison to what else he gets up to. I've been a subscriber of his for years. He or youtube took down some of his vids. There aren't nearly as many there now and nothing in the past year is still up.

I was a truck mechanic when I was in the Marines, and I have seen this more than once when someone would be working on a battery box in one of our 5 ton trucks. About 200A running through a 1/2" wrench. It would take on that lovely shade of red, and hopefully someone would notice before the battery decided to grenade itself spraying everything and everyone with acid.
I had to remake a lot of battery posts in a motor pool welding shop of a driver training brigade. the posts would get melted off usually due to trainees leaving the cables loose or shorting a wrench across the posts.
I would saw off the posts then drill in about half an inch then thread to 3/8 16 using a tap that ws ground under size heat up a brass bolt and tighten in to the hole then use a funnel with a post shaped end on it melt some lead and pour over the still hot brass bolt.. Sometimes if the post wasn't all tht bad I would just clean it with some muratic acid and a stainless steel brush then pour lead to build up the post Yu could do a lot of things to those old tar case 100 amp 12v foot square batteries
