    Mill/drill stop

    Hi All
I made this very simple milling/drill stop 20 years ago, as I was shocked at the price of commercially made ones, which also looked a bit awkward to use. I wanted something quick and simple to set. Also not only restricted to a machine vice but usable with the dividing head, indexing head, angle plate, vee blocks etc. on both the mill and drilling machines.
I use this daily and is one of the most useful tools I have ever made for the mill/drill. If I was to make another, I think it would take me longer to find the suitable materials around the workshop than to produce the stop.
Dimensions are not critical and the stop is, made from stock steel sizes. For cosmetic appearance, after cutting I machined all cut ends square except the main round upright which I radius . The rest of the build is just drilling, tapping, threading, and bending the two operating handles.

Neat stop, I've been hankering after one for a little while now so thanks for sharing your design. I like the simplicity of it, simple kicks a** every time.

It's not the destination but the journey you take to get there that matters.

Excellent and very simple to make. But I was too lazy to make it, so I bought one for less than 20 dollars at Taobao.

    Hi
Thank you to all for the feedback on the stop.
Unfortunately things are not so cheap in the UK I had a quick look on the web and found this design which is similar, and the cheapest I could find it was £56.00 plus postage. I really like the design but these were not available when I made mine. I still would find it difficult to justify that amount of money. The price of under $20 is a no brainer I think that is a great product at a fantastic price and I would not entertain making one, if I was able to get it so cheap in the UK. The material would cost that on its own in the UK let alone than having to machine it.
