It's not scrap or waste. That would be properly called drops or shorts. The 3-D model has some has some design flaws. The "crank handles" on the hand wheels appear to be centered rather than out closer to the rim. The lead screw is visible through the frame.

Did not watch the video, maybe all of that is explained in the video, but no way it is worth watching or 30 minutes, with that many errors in the first frame.
