Mini Lathe 4” 4Jaw Modification

Attachment 39102Attachment 39102Attachment 39099Attachment 39098Attachment 39096I modified my 4” 4 jaw chuck for my mini lathe. I was able to eliminate the adapter plate and machine out the back end of the chuck to allow direct mounting of the chuck. I added four new M6 mounting studs to fit the the spindle flange 4 hole mounting pattern. The overall chuck stack up thickness was reduced from 2-3/4” to 1-7/8”. The job went very well and I encountered no difficulty. Nice work, getting rid of rotating mass and a good thing to be able to use all the bed length you can.
A pic (or link to another HMT post?) of your cross slide (Unimat?) tailstock arrangement
as glimpsed in lower right corner of your last pic would be much appreciated.

I had some issues with posting the pictures. I will try to get a few more sometime today.

The issue I have is with the size of the image file. I am going to use an app to reduce the size in Mb to under 2 Mb.
I am looking for a good app.

Dick, I use a free download viewer, that lets you resize the photo, and then save it to what ever directory you want.

There's a choice of 32 or 64 bit programs. It will install, then any jpg you select will be opened. Then if you click on the top tool bar "Image", "Resize/Resample" you can select the downsample. Then save as to where you want it kept, I usually write to same directory, and change the name, so I don't overwrite the original.

A decent online tool is here Simple Image Resizer, resize online images without losing quality

Windows 10 Photos app does this easily and well: https://www.groovypost.com/howto/use...resize-images/

Also Irfanview for just about any version of Windows lets you set the desired file size. https://www.irfanview.com
