Hi jojitsu48 - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
Good question! I'm going to ask our machining folks for perspective on your power feed question.
You have a nice little mini mill. I did a somewhat check to see if there are power drives for your machine, sorry I didn't find any. Something to think about, do you REALLY need a power drive for doing small work???
Hi I have fitted an auto feed to my xj12 minimill ,, I used a geared 12v motor I got from ebay, I then changed one handwheel for a 65 toothed Myford screw cutting gear wheel and fitted a 20 toothed gear onto the shaft of the 12v motor,, To power it I used a toy train set speed controller which allows me great control of cutting speed and also allows me to reverse the cutter out of the job,,,I just used a piece of angle iron and a bit of thin plate steel,,(not too thin or you will get flexing )
I'll attempt to take some photos and attach them...
IT won't let me up load the photos as they're too big,,,what a p.i.t.a.,, I'll try and video it tomorrow along with the other mods I've done to it,, like the gas strut and the halls sensor type rev counter/speedo as well as the led light halo around the spindle nose ...
