    Yes, imagine your car radiator. It has a pressure cap. Keeps the coolant from boiling. If you remove the cap while the collant is above the boiling point, it ALL tries to boil the instant the pressure is released.

    Water is what makes corn pop. Heat the kernel, water turns to steam, POPS the shell of the kernel. Put the kernels in a strong sealed container, a few kernels can pop, rising the pressure inside the container. The rest of the kernels cannot pop due to the pressure inside the container. Release that pressure suddenly... POP!!
