Model making as a hobby must have been one of the most instrumental influences in the building of modern societies infrastructure and amenities. I used to know a professional model maker who was pre-booked for years, his specialty was architecture. No idea how the job market is today with computer design. rapid prototyping and 3D printing.
Still the skill level and attention to detail is usually stunning. As a young fella going to a transport museum or a model railway club show was like walking into a fantasy land. Attending a model show is still akin to a visit to wonderland.
