Modification to a quick change tool post

Not exactly a homemade tool but a useful modification which may be of use to some.

I have a Chester model B, 3 in 1 lathe, mill, drill. I wanted to replace the standard tool post with a quick change model. I asked Chester which would be suitable and they sent me the T1 piston post which is widely available. They did say that it would need some modification to fit and not entirely understanding their suggestion I came up with my own solution shown here.

Gary, I recently bought one of these tool posts for my ancient South Bend, so when I saw your thumbnail in my subscription feed I watched it immediately (your vids get top billing anyhow). The Chester mounting is different than the SB, but but your mod gave me an idea to improve mine, so thanks for that.

It looks like you're healing up fairly well.

    Neil
