Modified Dead-Blow Hammer

I bought a BluePoint dead-Blow hammer at a garage sale for $2 and I was happy.

But... then I used it a couple of times and the head shattered (the polyurethane had gotten old and brittle).

I tossed it in the trash, then pulled it back out and modified it.

I welded the ends on the head (since it was wrapped in ploy, they just press-fit caps on the tube that holds the 'dirt' that makes it dead-blow.

Then I added a mild-steel slug on one and and a larger round thing I had kicking around on the other end.

On the big end, I super-glued a hunk of clay-filled rubber.

Since the handle was splitting, I wrapped it with some string and soaked it with super-glue (yes, I like super-glue!)

Ta-da! A nice dead-blow that I can use to hit other hammers with without worrying about either hammer head shattering (mild steel, ya' know?)

Writing this took almost as long as doing it!
