A more peaceful foundry
Howdy!
So I've previously built a propane foundry some years ago, and it has served me well over the years. The main issue with it is the dang thing sounds like a jet engine taking off. Ear protection sucks and my poor ears just can't take it anymore. I needed a solution.
Thus, the electric foundry was born! Complete with PID controller and obligatory old school internet references, this thing is a beast!

Thanks for checking it out!

What is your electricity cost? What is the electricity cost compared to propane?
Nice project, Thanks!

I haven't noticed much of a change in the electricity bill, but to be fair, I generally run the bill pretty high with all the welding/machinery.
It draws around 750 watts and can melt aluminum in 30 minutes or so, so it's really not too bad. (pretty sure I've had coffee makers that eat more power haha)
