Mostly metal work

I'm Jerry and I live in Denver, CO. Most of my work is on old cars. I do find myself building some of my own tools, particularly if one is made that looks like I can build myself. Sometimes I build one for one special problem and then it will wind up in the scrap steel buckets. Hopefully I'll get a picture someday of one that deserves exposure. Many are made just to do something once. See y'all.

What kind of cars do you like?

I like most domestic cars from the twenties to the seventies and even some later special cases. For regular travel and driver cars it now has become the Japanese model, mostly Toyota and Honda. My hobby cars are the old ones. Chevys, Fords, Mopars and even cars from companies no longer in production. Currently I have a '66 Dodge Dart GT hardtop that is finished and used for driving on nice days. My current project car is a '55 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe. I'm early in the rebuild work. Engine and driveline work barely underway. Right now I'm trying to do rust repair, involving cutting out affected metal and welding in replacement metal. Most of my tool builds revolve around dilemmas encountered in chassis work and other little surprises that pop up. Guess I'm cheap (OK, thrifty) enough that I try to get around purchasing a tool that I can make for myself or one of these surprises needs a tool that nobody makes. Sometimes it takes multiple attempts to get a tool that works properly, but there's learning involved and that helps me get better and better at figuring out my own home built tool attempts.

I really enjoy looking at other persons' ideas on this site. Makes me think better about my own work. Thanks people!
