I was watching that race.
See how Valentino Rossi almost got hit at 0:27 and 0:55.

That was the boy's lucky day. He did not realise that it was a bike at the time it was only when he watched the video that he realised what had happened.
Within a week they built a wall and lined it with an air fence which was duly tested successfully by Viñales bike after the rider bailed out.
