A Moving bell on an MTH 1:32 scale Challenger locomotive

I saw how some moved a bell on a loco. and of course, I will do it another way. Usually they will use a piano wire moved by a servo mounted in the cab, too much for me. First one would have to transform rotary motion into reciprocating motion, not easy. I am using magnets. One on a small geared motor, an offset bell crank, and the other in the bell. It works. Neat! I love those neo magnets. I keep a bunch of several sizes in my shop at all times. Many uses.

I was going to say I could not hear the bell, but you prevented that in the second half of the video. You could sync up the ringing sound with a microprocessor and a Hall effect sensor near the rotating magnets.

Mth has a method of using different downloadable sounds, I might try that. Thank you. Bob.
