JR,
I too have not upgraded my TurboCAD. It is the last 64-bit version running on Windows 10 I will buy. The only thing I had to change was the TurboCAD finest line widths displays to be seen easily on my 4k computer screens. BTW, Windows 10 comes with a simple 3D CAD app for drawing objects and exporting STL files for 3D printing. It the free Microsoft 3D Builder found under the drop down menu "Windows Accessories".

Hi Jr,
I used CadKey and then Key Creator for years. Every year another $$$$ to pay to stay current with unneeded upgrades. I’m not opposed to learning but for a hobby there are limits.
-
Thanks for the tip Paul, I did not know that existed. Tinkercad is similar but browser based and who knows when Autodesk will make it a subscription.
I have Alibre for solid work and need to spend more time learning it. Looks real good so far. I did not buy the full version but I think this "limited" version will work for me and it was in a reasonable price range for hobbyists.
Dick, the constant upgrade thing just makes more work for me. Frequently I just use what I have on my computer since these programs are really at a great level at this time. Back in the day it was a good idea to get new versions every now and again but I don't upgrade much now.
Computing is good!

jjr2001,
Thanks for directing me to YouTube for LibreCad tutorials. I found some great videos and I learned a lot in 1 hour. I don’t feel like a “deer in the headlights” and that is progress!

Indeed, There are some very good Youtube tutorials out there and some are very entertaining also.

jjr2001,
I learned more today than I ever expected. This is the kick start I needed. I now feel quite confident I will do great with LibreCad!
Thanks

That's great Dick, Making the drawings is half the fun and I find a lot of re-work or bad parts
are prevented with good drawings.

You are so right, JR
I enjoy drawing. It is the tool designer in me.

Indeed...Keep on Drafting and Building.

jjr2001,
I intend to keep drawing and practicing a little each day. I am getting a little more proficient each day and when I run into a wall I ask google for help. I have also been keeping a notebook to record how I did certain actions that were not intuitive or obvious. That has been good for reinforcement.
