Astonishing? Never seen before? No and no, not really, I have a number of magnetic 1/4" hex drivers. Their handles are much more ergonomic and efficient as you can actually drive a screw with your whole hand and not just your fingers.
As for the punch/scribe bit, the punch was good for wood and the scribe was ok for aluminum, but if you want to mark steel, a harder scribe is needed that is not magnetic. If you have a magnetic tip, as you get near the steel you are marking, the tip will be attracted to the steel and you might have to fight the bit to get it to the right place. You can see this by putting a small phillips tip in a magnetic holder and moving it to a spot on a sample steel object.
