My son will be turning 14 in February of 2017, and I thought I'd share some progress on his latest tool build. He is very interested in Bladesmithing and making his own damascus. I've been supervising, but letting him do all his own work to build the equipment he needs. He succesfully built his own gas fired forge last year as a 13 yr old and now he's making a 2"x72" belt grinder, called a Bader Grinder. We're almost done, just need to align the pulleys, tie everything down and paint it.
Well, and then there's the wiring to do. lol
That's neat. :)

I started my sons training on my old 72' Cutlass doing upper and lower A bushings when he was about that age. Gave it to him after he went through a couple of beaters. However I did help him do the whole front end on his 65' Malibu SS a year or two ago but he had to help me back up a few times...concrete...cold and hard, old bones. But did let him put the 4 speed in his Mustang 5L as I sidewalk supervised before that. Speaking of trucks, been drooling since yesterday coming home from helping him build the Grandsons new room, and seeing a 70' GMC fleetside, straight arrow body with a cab over rack and tool box at a good price, could be fun...but alas a new grand daughter due at the end of the month. Just the best to work with them. Makes my days.
P.S. He sold his 1098 Duc about a year after I sold my 1050 Sprint ST. Still ride quads when I/we can.
