Not all that different than the lunar rover tires. except those had strips installed to mimic a tread design.

The Mars Science Laboratory (Curiosity) is experiencing fatigue and brittle failure caused by flex in the thin aluminum wheel alloys. It's probably going to be the thing that limits the life of the rover. I wonder how these compare?
