New entrant
I am a retired engineer (marine, mechanical, electrical). I have my own home workshop with a fairly extensive range of tooling but, sadly, not yet a milling machine (next project!). This site appears to offer just the sort of communication with fellow engineering buffs that I want!

Hi ART6,
Welcome! :welcome:
Are you thinking of building or restoring a mill? Sounds like a great project! Definitely keep us posted with photos of your progress; we'd love to follow along!

Hi Ken, and thanks for your response. Actually my current project is with a guy who runs marathon races. He has three young boys, and he conceived the idea of some sort of chariot arrangement that would provide seating for two children, driven by a runner in charity marathons with the children, perhaps, being disabled but needing some stimulus and excitement. He is not an engineer but I liked his idea, so I undertook to design the device and to make all of the parts that he couldn't easily obtain. This has meant getting hold of all sorts of bits and pieces from scrap, including regularly raiding the works of a friend who runs a waste recycling company, and obtaining various steel stock from another friend who runs a fabrication business. It's turning out to be a lengthy project, but I am getting there!

Hi ART6 - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
The marathon chariot project sounds fascinating! Post some pics if you have any yet, I'm sure people would like to take a look.
