I just ran into this forum, after a long day spent building a new forge for my shop. My shop is pretty primitive (as am I). I don't produce works of art (I have zero artistic talent and use that as an excuse to sacrifice form for function). But, I love making tools in order to make more tools. I've seen the work of others here, and I bow to the masters. I wish I had the skills, patience and shop to produce equipment like I've seen here. I have a small ranch in Oklahoma and like working on old machinery, which is good because that is mostly what I own. As I said, right now the forge is top of my priority list. Next, I'll be tackling the Dave Gingery machine shop book. That's going to take a while, but it would seem to be the only way that I'll end up with a machine shop on the ranch, and I really like the idea of being able to fix any part of it by myself. It might be easier to order the parts, but there's a lot of satisfaction to be had in making it yourself. I like doing everything in metal and do very little with wood, other than general purpose construction projects that need to be done. Hello, everyone!
