I have been a machinist for
30 plus years. I spent summers with my Grandfather working on all kinds of old machines. He was a retired machinist who had started the trade working in the shipyard in Newport News, VA during WW2. I knew what I wanted to do since I was about 12. Started my first day on a drill press drilling knitting mill castings. I wound up learning how to setup and run all of the conventional equipment then moves to CNC milling. Ran Mori Seikis and Haas machines. Go Haas F1 ! Moved to the office many years ago but I still love machining. You guys know what I mean ! I have my Grandfather's Southbend lathe and his ex US Navy Fray milling machine plus drill presses and so forth. I have been lucky enough to get some "obsolete" odds and ends from work for free.
I have seen a lot of really great projects and ideas on this site and looking forward to more !
