I like this invention. I have seen it before, first i doupt that its not strong enough.. After second tought i noticed that i'm wrong.

If those extra jaws would be wider, then you could clamp plates and objects more sturdier, when clamping steel plates. When cutting with angle grinder for example, wider connection area could give stronger grip and leave less marks.

That vise would be very helpfull for me, home and at work. If you can start to sell them, there's markets for those.

    Great work.

    Hi
Really good looking bit of kit, at the moment can't see any faults with it.
(If you would like me to test one for you and review please don't hesitate to ask LOL.)
Good luck for the future, I think you are on to a winner

I like it, and I am particularly impressed by the fabrication skills in Part 3.
If you are going to manufacture these by fabrication you will need to carefully consider the production costs. Can you compete with the multitude of cast vices, made in their millions, coming out of China. We know that often these are rubbish, but many people buy on price, not quality. Nobody wants to make the best tool in the world and only sell a few hundred of them because of the price. It might be an idea to put teeth inside the round part of the rear vice's jaws, for pipe holding, and I would like to see a tilt option on the base. If the front vice had "off set" jaws it would be able to hold tall items as well. I wish you well.

I for one, would be all over one of these.. What a brilliant idea. I'd pony up the cash right now if there were one for sale! Yes, please build these. Or at least a limited run, OR sell the idea to one of the big tool companies so they can produce them. But really, it would be very cool if a smaller shop could do orders and do small runs of them. Any projections on what kind of price point one of these bad boys would be?

I do not know how others make knifes but this looks like it would work very well to file a knife blade. Some thing that I would have really loved about 25 years ago! Always wanted a vice that would clamp horizontally as this one does. May your venture be successful!

I was thinking the same thing! Or you could clamp a piece of 2'x2' plywood for an extra makeshift work table, the possibilities are endless. I can't believe this thing hasn't been invented yet. This deserves to be in the hands of anyone who would like to buy one, and the person who built/invented this prototype deserves to retire very comfortably..

great idea , but i bet that in the last 150 years or so someone has thought this up before in the USA,so a international patent wont apply or be granted,,so they may get a patent in finland,or a european patent,, we all know damn well the chinese wont let that stop them from making these and selling them in the USA,,i bet as we speak, the design and blue prints are being worked on in China,a small one 4inch, will be sold for about 80$ this summer in the USA !!!and for the chinese reading this, the rear jaws need beefing up, here in the USA plenty of idiots will put a pipe on the handle and really put some torque on it. !!! i hope it can be made in europe in a large size 6 inch (we americans do things BIG, and like large tools) at a reasonable cost, and plenty of USA sales will be made, if its marketed right..
