new to woodworking

I am about to retire and am wanting to get in to wood working. I am starting to gather tools and information.
I have done everything from sheet metal fabrication to working in a bakery> I am trained in electronics and computer administration. I am looking for a peaceful hobby for my retirement, so that I can feed my creative urges.
