I was impressed with the drive wheels so I looked up the designer.
Found this on Wikipedia:
Henry Dreyfuss is known for designing some of the most iconic devices found in American homes and offices throughout the twentieth century, including the Western Electric Model 500 telephone, the Westclox Big Ben alarm clock, and the Honeywell round thermostat.

I can only think of one other Industrial Designer who had perhaps more impact on society as Mr. Dreyfuss, and that would be Raymond Loewy. The Coke Bottle, the Presidential 747 paint scheme, a Pennsylvania locomotive, and the Studebaker Avanti.
