Newbie
New to this forum. I've only looked around a bit, but I may not be the best candidate for entry here. My interest is almost exclusively woodworking and woodworking tools, jigs and fixtures, both hand and power tools. If I'm not a good fit please let me know.
I'm a cabinetmaker by trade and on the side, build furniture for home and family, occasionally on commission. I've also dabbled in canoes and archery.
Lately, I've been playing with making my own hand tools. To date, a couple wood bodied planes, a pair of spokeshaves, a drawknife and a series of mallets. The blades I've made have been from old files and so far leave a lot to be desired simply because I haven't taken time to reharden the blades after milling. Since I'm in an experimental/prototyping stage that is no detriment at this time. A Krenov style plane and the drawknife have been the most successful so far.
Looking forward to seeing more of what's at hand here.
Best,
Tom

Hi Tom,
Welcome aboard!
Your a perfect fit man!
My main interest, and lots of others like me, is in woodwork and woodworking tools (old and new).
I do a little bit of metal work too (brass) for making hand planes.
I think you will find this forum a very welcoming place.
There's lots of great guys doing great things.
Plenty of positive feedback available.
Would love to see some of your homemade tools.
Regards,
Brendon
