 time and a bit of spare cash to indulge in a long term wish to own a centre lathe. Having acquired a rebadged IXL from the 1920s ? and spent a year fettling it it is now in useable condition. I have already made a few items for it such as a rear tool post, carriage locks & stop , belt & pulley cover and fitted a quick change gearbox that I took off a clapped out star brand lathe bought for £60 well pleased with "Pin It")
Hi, I'm a retired mechanic/lorry driverwith (at last) time and a bit of spare cash to indulge in a long term wish to own a centre lathe. Having acquired a rebadged IXL from the 1920s ? and spent a year fettling it it is now in useable condition. I have already made a few items for it such as a rear tool post, carriage locks & stop , belt & pulley cover and fitted a quick change gearbox that I took off a clapped out star brand lathe bought for £60 well pleased with that one! I now need a cheap qctp and a device for telling spindle speeds. I hope in future I may be able to contribute to this forum, but I have a lot to learn first.
