I’m imagining this was all done by hand or with minimal mechanation. Either way a lot of work.

Guys, my thought is that the very old stone ramparts have been there since whenever, 12-17th centuries, and the barn placed there, say 19th century to avail the final usage. I reckon 2/3rds of the spiral is level at barn's upper door height, and that he only ramped up to that for the other third. The houses nearby are also modern. Jon, are you on some secret mission to test us old codgers' cognitive powers? If so, mate, it's working...and I know I'm having fun watching and trying to figure out how or where these things happen. My recent China tour opened a whole lot of WTFs not seen in other parts of the world. Cheers
    Jim

The picture is stunning and what it represents, more so. Thanks Jon!

Looking at the curve, and not having the tools to measure it, I'm given to wonder if Fibonacci numbers (1,1,2,3,5,8...)aren't involved. It expands gracefully.

Sometime it is nice to add character and a bit of creativity to your life. There is nothing worse than a housing development where every lot and every house duplicates the one next to it.

I know if I had the money I’d be doing unique improvements to my place right now. In my case though it might be a shop/garage modeled on an old Pennsylvania Railroad depot building. I’ve always like the looks of the early steam era railroad buildings.

In any even I have to admire being different here and wonder if there was a technical reason for the curve. I know many local farms have secondary level access via simple dirt ramps. Nothing anywhere near as fancy as this though.
