what do you all use in the way of bandaids?

I ask because some time ago the (well known) brand we used changed the adhesive they used rendering their product next to useless, ie while they will stick initially they will give up the ghost at a hint of moisture or any sort of actual work.

Not looking for anything fancy here, just something for those nicks and scratches that I get working around the place (none of which really need any attention, but they can make a mess which generates a noise hazard...)

FWIW we've tried a few different brands now but none have been up to the task...

The "waterproof" version of the popular bandages generally has a much better adhesive than their other products.
Disregarding my user name, a couple wraps of good electrical or athletic tape over a bandage also works fairly well for the usual nicks and cuts on fingers.

I've tried the 'waterproof' versions and they were only marginally better

FWIW I suppose I could use electrical tape and a scrap from the rag box...

Well, Regardless of which BRAND you choose, understand something I learned from personal experiance, circa 2021:
DO NOT BUY ANY CHINESE MADE MEDICAL SUPPLIES ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I know this is "could be" CONSIDERED biased, or whatever, however, I have AVOIDED any "gauze" "Adhesive strips" ETC., • • • • •> Due to the POTENTIAL of CONTAMINATION and NON STERILE CONDITIONS.
Period. FULL STOP.
As a 100% Diasabled Veteran, I had an ACDF Surgery, in a >>>CIVILIAN<<< hospital (2021).
ACDF = repairs to the vertabrae(s) in your Neck. For me, Cervical's 5, 6, & 7 had compressed and Damaged Disks.
DUE to my Blue Collar WORK, I had More MUSCLE TISSUE in the Front Side of my neck, than other men have on those Two MUSCLE GROUPS, that hold your head verticle • • • • • • and that is prelude of my "story", I wore a drainage tube for over a Month, to allow the "MICRO SHARDS" to continue leaving the Body.
(FYI, my Nero-Surgeon was •••the Number ONE BEST•••, in OREGON, voted by ALL her fellow Neuro SURGEONS in 2021, she now works in another STATE).
About Two months AFTER that, my Suregon Removed the tube, (And WEEKLY CHECK UPS on the post surgery until REMOVAL) . . .
LATER, a couple Months, I started to develop a situation in the wound/scar area: MORE DEBRIS was trying to escape!
(AGAIN, I add, BEST NEURO SURGEON, AWARDED, ETC. •••MY SURGERY••• Was her Longest time in SURGURY, for this typical SURGERY, for her. IT WAS ALL SHE DID, the NECK ! ! ! ! ! ). (DUE, to my extensive frontal muscular system, an EXTRA TWO HOURS . . . . )
SO, here comes my REASONING: I *had* to use the local VA CLINIC this happened over the weekend, I show up on MONDAY to the VA Clinic.
The Doctor examined, diagnosed, etc. THEN (after PREP for minor surgery) a very small cut to allow that debris to POP OUT. it was surrounded by <some> pus, it was *THAT*, which HELPED the DEBRIS to leave via the logical "CANAL" left by that tube.
Doctor at the clinic got everything CLEAN, a *pocket* of DEBRIS and cleaning of the incision, ETC all done.
She covered the area with a FOUR × FOUR GAUZE PAD, gave me a BAG of 4×4's, from the SAME SOURCE that she USED on my NECK: "CHANGE Three times a Day, until the new Scar heals from her very "Surface Level INCISION".
ONLY TWO HOURS LATER, sitting at the Dinner Table (Retirement Apartment, they made our meals, ETC )
MY Friend, & Former NURSE, sitting accross from me says "WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOUR NECK" ? ? ? ? ?
I explained ABOVE. >>>NO, I MEAN THE RASH AROUND THE 4×4 GAUZE<<< ! ! ! ! !
And explains that what SHE SEES, I finished DINNER. Went to my room, looked in the Mirror.
THE ENTIRE AREA, Cleansed for PRE-OP at that CLINIC, was INFLAMED, as if an ALERGIC REACTION was occuring.
(May I add here, that I HAVE Para Medical TRAINING, and have done TRAINED WOUND CARE, ETC, Since 1974 ! ! ! ).
OK then . . . I remove the 4×4, and UNDER THAT AREA, my Neck is nearly TWICE as INFLAMED!
I PREP, and then get the bag of •••4×4 GAUZE••• that I was given . . . .
EVERY SINGLE 4×4 was • • • • • • • • • • • • •
• • • • • • • • • • • • • • MADE IN CHINA.
I went to my local "Pharmacy", STUDIED every BRAND of 4×4 GAUZE, 70 PERCENT were ALL made in CHINA.
I can not remember which "BRAND" was bought, but it WAS made in USA,
Right?
BY the Next DAY, no RASH, no signs of the PRIOR NIGHTMARE of medical issues.
THINGS that I do, for ALL MEDICAL SUPPLIES:
1. I examine ALL product INFORMATION!
2. I will NOT buy any thing that is Medical, and goes on my BODY! FROM CHINA.
3. I SHARE this Information, with Everybody I connect with, if the Topic is like this one!!!!
LESSON LEARNED!
You WILL find, bandage/medical like products COMING from:
• Brazil: GOOD PRODUCTS.
• Sweden: GREAT PRODUCTS
• France: Yes, I have used FRENCH First Aid supplies !!!!!
• Germany: (Etc.)
DO NOT PURCHASE if made from "GLOBALLY SOURCED MATERIALS"
That, To ME, means "WE do not WANT to tell you. ITS MADE FROM CHINESE Products" ...
(In case you are Wondering, my MEDICAL BAG, is Stocked to a COMBAT LEVEL MEDIC, including CONSTRICTORS <Turnequetes> TWO each, Combat CLOT BANDAGES (equal to Gunshot WOUND Level) and even an Airway Passage Device) And other, Not for the AVERAGE first Aide Kit.
IT is Made by NARA "North American Rescue Association", and ALL they do is MANUFACTURE IFAKS, and EMERGENCY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT, for That INDUSTRY (Wanna buy a ~Stokes~ Litter?)
I have bought From them twice, ONE "Close Out" item: 2×2 gauze . . . Made in China (!!!!) I use them to clean my FireArms with, Bore Patches, etc. Expensive, BUT I would not use them On YOU, if there was need, if you follow my meaning.
At 75, I still do this kind of work, "As Required".
Did I MENTION, nothing MADE in China? OK, then, Proceed at your level of CAUTION.
CHINA, These are the "People" who have Presented, TO THE WORLD, Three MAJOR MEDICAL EMERGENCY problems: COVID19, and its 3 sub Cultures, Before THAT, TWO World Outbreaks in a Quarter of a Century. . . .
And as I write this, THREE CHINESE STUDENTS have been Arrested, ALL in MICHIGAN, in the last WEEK, JUNE 16 - 20, 2025, for ILLEGAL IMPORTING of BIO HAZARD MATERIAL, "to Study" in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA!
