Hi. Just found this forum.
While I'm into restoring old machine tools and old bikes mainly, there are lots of times I make tooling or recycle something into home-made tools out of necessity and interest.
Looking forward to browsing and contributing.
Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe - welcome to HomemadeTools.net :welcome:
If you're into restoring old machine tools, you'll probably be popular around here :)
So, what's next up on your build list?

Thanks Jon,
I have a long list of projects, I'm afraid....
Just finishing a new bike shed - i.e. closing a hayshed I built 25 years ago - to store my collection....
On the machine tool list I'm almost done regrinding and rescraping a 1940s Cash horizontal milling machine.
After that comes a 1925 Van Norman cylindrical grinder, then an 1870s Whitney mill conversion to surface grinder.
Somewhere in between I'll be finishing the installation of an electronic lead screw (ELS) and DRO for my lathe...
When I look around, it seems I'm planning to live to 100 :)
Shed in progress a little while ago:
Attachment 4117
Cash mill pulled apart
Attachment 4110
Vertical slide nearing completion.... knee, cross feed and table to go...
Attachment 4111
Van Norman dismantled on arrival for closer inspection
Attachment 4112 Attachment 4113
Whitney to go from this:

to something like this:

Cheers,
Joe

Hi Joe,
Welcome - glad to have you here! :welcome:
What a fantastic collection of vintage tools!! I can't wait to see more of your work with these survivors.
Just curious, but when you say "bikes", are you talking about bicycles or motorcycles? We've got lots of guys here into both sorts of 2-wheelers…

Hi Joe, welcome to the forums! Let's see whatever collection you have. :)

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I meant motorbikes actually. But I have a couple of 'in betweens' as well: a couple of French Velosolex bikes from the 60s (50cc, friction front wheel drive) and a German Rex from 1951 (35cc, v-belt front wheel drive).
My motorbikes are a 1960 BMW R26, a 1971 Honda SL70 and an SL175, an 81 XL250S and several Honda CX versions - 500,650 and 500turbo).
Most still need work....
Cheers,
Joe
