Have to ask-- Why round off the nut? If it was used to center the disk then it should be centered for other operations later. A 3 or 4 jaw chuck would be able to grab this and it would still be centered.

Hi, the nut had a rough surface so it may have been cast. Therefore I didn't know if griping on the flats would be repeatable or not. I machined the flats off and then I knew that the machined surface will run true.
