It blows my mind that those wire ropes are doing most of the heavy lifting, figuratively and literally. The boom and dipper are as bulky as they are because they share the load, but still. Those ropes are mighty impressive. Steam shovels are the second most graceful of giant machines. The Hulett crane is tops, but there aren't any left.
