It proves that if you need a handle and not a whole brush you also need a belt sander.

This tecnique is especially useful if you commited a crime with a paintbrush and need to get rid of the evidence. Not that I have any experience in that area, just sayin'.

Ah hah; This works on natural or synthetic bristles. I've modded surprisingly good crevice brushes this way, mainly for cleaning residue or chips. As they shorten they stiffen, of course.

You stopped short of grinding away everything but the handle, I'm sure.
I find that a swing blade paper cutter works best for shortening up the bristles
