Pantograph torch drive motor mount
I started with a 2x3x4 block of aluminum to make the drive motor mount for my pantograph torch
First off I offset 1 chuck jaw by 2 scroll revolutions then center drilled and bored it to size

Then with a 1/2" HSS I cut the key slot in it to accommodate the housing on the drive motor

Making a 1/2" wide by 5/8" deep slot through a 2" thick block of aluminum using the hand wheel on the lathe carriage advancing 0.005 to 0.008" per stroke takes a while and really builds up the old left arm

I have a philosophy of never mill chips if you can saw chunks. Besides I hate having to do set ups and milling if I can avoid it
Attachment 43675
The only thing left to do now is to cut a clamping slot and drill some holes then mount it.

But to do that I had to make an alignment tube to make sure the stylist in the drive motor would be exactly centered above the torch tip
Alignment tube was machined on both ends with s steel sleeve bushing from a semi truck brake shoe pivot pin on 1 end to fit the mounting block

The drive motor mounted and ready just need to plug in a controlling unit and connect my torch hoses and tip when I am ready to use the machine
