I thought those T11 chutes were designed to afford the paratrooper more directional control we had the T10s then the T10b came out in 1976 with an anti-inversion net but in never jumped one.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Made plenty of jumps under the T10 and Dash-1 type parachutes and yes, that jumper was not paying attention to what was going on. The jumper probably broke bones in both legs and possibly a hip and spine. When i was in Ranger School we did a night jump where one student, a Master Sgt. in the 82nd Airborne, landed directly on top of a telephone pole and suffered a compound fracture of his femur. A life-threatening injury for sure. Jumping is dangerous, especially full combat jumps like the one in the video. I remember on more than one occasion trying to jettison my rucksack, which is that thing dangling below this jumper in the video, and if you didn't pull both straps together at the same time, it would lockup, resulting in landing with a half-released rucksack. The result of a strap jam on descent was to focus on clearing the jam and not on wind direction, or your trajectory, which usually resulted in you having a bad day.
