    petertha intro

Hi everyone. I've landed n this forum often enough, figured it was time to join. I'm into metalworking, RC models and of course have a soft spot for tools, jigs & related things.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'll reply by testing a photo upload & testing link insertion. This is nothing special, just a mini R8 tool rack to protect the investments & use less shelf real estate. I made it this particular size because:
    a) the cut out template would fit on 8.5x11 paper
    b) it actually makes more sense for me to have a few smaller racks vs. a big one so I can position them better or expand with another rack with more tooling

Its just 1/2" MDF scrap, glued & dowel pinned. I tried a new scroll saw blade brand & they cut like blazes even on this thick dense material. They are Swiss blades called Pegas, very sharp & long lasting.

Nice idea Petertha. I can see putting a back on it and mounting it on the wall next to the machine to keep the tooling handy.

Ok dumb question. I have a tool I want to describe/upload pics as a separate post. I have navigated to a specific sub-area where I think it best belongs. But I don't see a 'post' button anywhere within. What's the general procedure? Do I go to a specific 'new' area & it asks me where to file it?

So you should see a "Post New Thread" button in the main homemade tools subforum, here: Homemade Tools

Thanks Jon. Maybe I had the wrong idea. So I post (to the link you provided) add some appropriate keywords at the bottom of the post and then...? does Admin put the post into a Category subsequently as deemed appropriate? As opposed to me going direct to a Category I think it belongs in & posting from within that - kind of like a sub-forum. I just submitted a new one using your link as a test, let me know if I'm going about this correctly or not.

Yes, you got it - we manually review each homemade tool posted on the forum, and then we add it to the appropriate category for you. Then we post a tool card "receipt" in your thread, so that you know your tool is recorded.
