"Pjaca" Winehouse burnout: Split, Croatia July 26
At approximately 9 p m friday night, sirens all over town, Fire within the Old Town:
(pics by yours truly from the morning after, at 5 to 6)

Word on the street says nobody was hurt, though the resturant and the hotel above will be outta business for this season.
There is gas pipes all over (rather "under") town, but NOT in the 24 centuries old Diocletian's Palace part "for fire prevention reasons".
(This is my personal reflection): "-So we'll just bring in some LPG bottles for the restaurant barbecue...
Put all those spare bottles beside it, make a quickie connect, valve and tube check, and torch it up..."

Note that the left extinguisher is used and empty, but the right one is burned and probably full.
Sadly, unused and full extinguishers are fairly common finds still hanging on the walls after a fire.
4 LPG bottles at max 16 kg looking pretty sorrow after their safety valves blew,
and their contents pitching in making the place a total write-off:

Cause for the fire hasn't been established yet - but my (semi-informed) guess is gas tube leak,
no fire resistant glove around (for turning the bottle valve off), and inadequate fire emergency routines.
