This Hummel Bird, built by Ace_Plumber on HomeBuiltAirplanes.com, is a nice example of this simple airplane. The Hummel Bird has a reputation as an inexpensive, easy-to-build plane, and it's usually powered by a Volkswagen air-cooled engine. Ace_Plumber's story of his first flight in the plane gets a bit scary when he hits a runway light on rollout, but it turns out alright in the end.
