Poor man boring bar
Hi!
Not a great tool, in fact I modified an old boring bar in order to cut large holes in light materials.
I created a sort of guide in the lower part of the tool (10mm) , so that it can be inserted into a pre-hole drilled in the part. The cutting tool is an old broken tap grinded.
I cut a 45mm hole in 3mm aluminum with drill press, I haven't noticed any particular problems or vibrations, the guide worked well.
I don't recommend to use with drill press, the milling machine is the safest way. In particular, vibrations could easily detach the morse cone from its seat.
