Portable work station for ship modeling.

I like to work on my model while I sit on the couch and watch TV. So I modified a cabinet I got from the Home Depot. It has wheels so it's easily moved to wherever I need it. I also have some pics of the model under construction. It's a kit model of the HMS Victory. Also one pic of my first ship model the USS Constitution.

When the standing rigging is in place, it can be tough to place the running rigging. Long reach tools like those can be a big help.

Thanks, The USS Constitution is a solid hull design. The HMS Victory that I am currently working on is a plank on bulkhead design. I'm not familiar with the term strongback. I do use a keel holder made from a used elevator door clutch device from a Schindler elevator works great.

myavid76, A strong back is a long plank with cross members to hold the frames secure while one adds the planking to the sides. Cap.

Thanks for the clarification. I have seen this in some of my shipbuilding books where the models were scratch built. Each frame consisting of several pieces and no two frames exactly the same. That would be the next step for me in ship model building. A very big step. Dave.

Beautiful work on the ships, Dave! Even if it is a kit (monster kit at that) the details are breathtaking! That deck is gorgeous. Would love to see a bit bigger pics to get more of the detail. I try to use 800x600px when I post but Jon can give you better tips.
