Wouldn't it be quicker to use the saw by hand?
Such a shame to see a nice old saw abused that way. Sometimes you need a hand hacksaw, that looked like a nice one.
Just watch for sales on a used portable bandsaw. They cut so much faster. If you break a blade, you can cut the broken blade into pieces for your hand hacksaw.
