Power hacksaw - video

It is a nice build. Not being at all critical of the design or execution of it.

I do have to ask the question. What are the advantages of a power hacksaw over a horizontal band saw? There much be advantages. Even a portable band saw, can be very effective and accurate.

Band saw uses every tooth on the blade and is always cutting. Chips are constantly ejected from the cut. A hacksaw very seldom uses all of the teeth. Typically 1/2 or less of the teeth are in use. When cutting wide stock, the center teeth often never have an opportunity to clear chips. By design a hacksaw is only cutting 1/2 of the time it is in use.

I have used a power hacksaw many times over the years. I cannot think of any situation where is is superior to a band saw.

Once more, these comments have nothing to do with the quality of this build, just questions for discussion.
