It is a nice build. Not being at all critical of the design or execution of it.
I do have to ask the question. What are the advantages of a power hacksaw over a horizontal band saw? There much be advantages. Even a portable band saw, can be very effective and accurate.
Band saw uses every tooth on the blade and is always cutting. Chips are constantly ejected from the cut. A hacksaw very seldom uses all of the teeth. Typically 1/2 or less of the teeth are in use. When cutting wide stock, the center teeth often never have an opportunity to clear chips. By design a hacksaw is only cutting 1/2 of the time it is in use.
I have used a power hacksaw many times over the years. I cannot think of any situation where is is superior to a band saw.
Once more, these comments have nothing to do with the quality of this build, just questions for discussion.

Hello Hemmjo:
While I have a 6x4 band saw, here are the advantages of a power hack saw:
The blades cost less and are easier to replace, a plus in a home shop. Since I don't have a band saw blade welder when I brake a blade I toss it.
You can saw through a hole with out braking the blade.
Thicker blades can be used for heavy cuts.
There might be others too.

Hi Gang:
Really the mess from the chips isn't bad for a saw. My band saw makes a bigger mess. If you put a vacuum inlet under the sawing area it could gather most of the chips. I might mount the VFD ( variable frequency drive ) farther from the chip area and screw the heat sinks to the aluminum frame.
It is a nice machine.
Carl.
