    Prototype Bars

I'm the pragmatic sort. If something works for me, I keep it around. If not, it ends up in pieces going back into my junk drawer. My set of "Prototype Bars" has served me well for about 25 years. They don't look like much but fill the bill every time. If you had an Erector Set as a kid, you will have a good idea of what I have here.

Thanks, Rick! Do you have any pictures demonstrating how these are used? I am curious to learn more.

Sure beats searching for bits of wood and screwing/nailing them together then using them to light the BBQ and then needing them the next day.

This is why I have such a hard time throwing stuff out.

It is two days later and this little article has been brewing in the back of my mind. I can see a lot of value in making a set of these bars. Even more so to make sure they can work well with pieces of extruded aluminum T-slot I have laying around. Just need to find the bar stock cheap.

Like Rick said they are an erector set in concept. Basically an erector set for big boys. While I need to think about it a bit, expanding the size or maybe compatibility with the pitch of welding table holes might be beneficial. You end up with a set of large bars and small bars with which you could do a whole lot of setup and fixturing work. Another item to put on my to do list.
