I've still out on my judgement of those t handled allen keys... I made one for the taig lathe, but every other key I own is the traditional L shaped key.

Mate, So am I. I use one of a set I bought at ALDI, to tighten a pulley on the table saw arbor when attaching my homemade thickness sander. The set screw only needs to be snug, and has not yet come loose, BUT, the twisting of the extended shaft means f all torque is happening..so I'm with you on the traditional allen keys. Although a dedicated set of 1/4" socket allen keys from 3-8mm would be a hit...maybe I'll send a note to ALDI....cheers...

I too will admit to buying some cheap tools from Aldi and most of them have been O/K.
You may find this song about Lidl & Aldi amusing.

Olderdan,
What a hoot! And all true! Anyone who did not like that, should just be stricken from the record...how Aldi and Lidl have brought humour and enjoyment to the weekly shop, something the big chains (Woolworths and Coles in AUS) have no clue about at all.. long live the hatchet, the cordless drill and the wetsuit from Japan!

olderdan, Berserkleyboy; I too am a ALDI/ Trader Joe's disciple, right cher' in Ol Kans-acity. 99.9 percent foodstuffs and occassional cool tool finds. Best Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream ever. Sorry Frank S, no lime sherbet. I make do with the frozen real lime fruit bars!
Hauled a dozen interlocking flat bed carts yesterday. Bigger rectangular dimensions, heavier capacity, choice between space saving stacking accommodations, and easily found bright yellow. The interlock-connect feature doesn't seem widely available, and the other features exceeded those of HF hands down.
At a insignificant $3.00 extra cost. I saw them, asked manager how to isolate quantity via .com or other stores while I return with bigger vehicle. He pulled and stacked them on a big cart before I made it back; not twenty minutes.
There are few things I purchase elsewhere. ALDI's offspring is Trader Joe's. Somewhat upscale, gourmet selections and 100% non artificial ingredients, non GMO etc.
I bypass 3 large chain stores to get where I intend all along.
