I am surprised there is not A LOT MORE turbulence created dropping that hot hunk of iron into that bath. It must not be just water?

Or the water isn't that cold.

They are making Anchor soup! Fortified with iron.
That much thermal mass into what doesn't look like a lot of water . I would have expected it to boil almost instantly.

    Hi Gang:
I case hardened a lock up chain for my bicycle once: three hour soak in Case-Nit at 2200° F then room temperature water. Made a noise like a shot gun!
    Case hardness was 62 Rockwell.
    Carl.

Sumptin definitely strange about the whole video. Even if it was a molten salt bath you would see turbulence. There is no heat radiating and distorting the background. The worker in the background, is not wearing the typical silver reflecting PPE, and when they rest their foot on a stand they appear to have sandals. Even the scissor grip seems too light-duty for the tonnage. Looks like sumptin from Frank's barn!!

I think that the red is paint not hot steel.

I think Tony is right, took a closer look, the areas that are shiny metal and not red would be red if the entire anchor had been heated to a red hot, looks more like paint came off in those areas.

It looks more like a rams head crane attachment than a ship anchor. Could probably be used for either if the owner is aware of this site.

Saltfever; have you been digging around in one of my piles of useable stock?
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products
