    Hi Toolmaker,
    Yes, I'm living in the french part of Switzerland, about 40km. from the factory of Tripan toolholders which gives you a good idea why I use that system especially. ;-)
    For the parallel dial indicator, I can make pictures in use for a better illustration.
    The support for the tool height has two positions on the brass gauge you see because I use it for two different lathes with the same equipment in Tripan series 1xx
    For the sphere generator, I have make different types, this one is made especially for small radius, and for a fastest use than a horizontal one, the horizontal gives more possibilities but need to take away the superior part, then consuming more time for just one radius to make.
    Have a good day.

    Pierre;
    I'm loosely familiar with TriPan, yet they aren't prevalent here. Aloris wedge style is common on large lathes, KDK on medium but I don't understand the justification. Some of the BIG machines had Dickson variety and I feel they are most solid when it comes to resisting forces required to make metal fly.
    .6 [15mm] or .7 [18mm] deep at .04 [1mm] per revolution proves cutting tools quickly as holders.
    Crossing paths with TriPan occurred in a toolroom annex making drill bushings. I was called to verify set-ups and repeatability on Levin watchmaker lathes, they all had completely interchangeable TriPan holders. That way an available operator could run whatever job seamlessly. TriPan is the king on that variety of work; no question.
    The Swiss 40 Station is real nice too, acres of engagement between holder and post.
    Seems I've used every QC and turret post made at least once. That initiates comments below.
    My toolholder collection is all second hand usually by auction, hand selected. Have amassed a collection to suit different types of parts. The only KDK is a holder, no post, a six station turret! It might be a prototype/ sample. As the 'nets expanded I might find other examples, but no ones ever seen one like it. I made a 'adapter' to grip it's Vee vertically and a horizontal section for common holders [3/4"]. Indexes with a levered latch and plunger. Just like a tailstock turret. Repeats in the .0002 range when central axle is wet with boat trailer grease. Boat trailer grease by the way is water resistant [duh] for the wheel bearings, therefore not affected by water based coolants.
    Not to demean KDK but proportions of larger holders just don't jive with their narrow Vee...but I'm just one guy.

    Along the way after your site with all the holders, someone asked about lever torque on wedge-action holders versus repeatability...Most critical are clean mating surfaces. next is a film of fine oil on the female wedge; less resistance to camming action. Reasonably consistent torque is sufficient. One could use torque wrench or limiting extensions for greater infinite repeats of 1=1.
    No cost effective manufacture process assures perfectly reliable positioning; size control, internal friction, surface finish and of course durability. Employee maintenance, forget it. When a guy BUYS it that all changes.

    Sincerely,
